Elisabeth A. Veazey, age 94, formerly of Brooklyn Avenue Warsaw, died peacefully, Sunday, March 26th 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rochester, April 18th 1922 the daughter of the late Leonard and Bessie Scattergood Anderson. Elisabeth grew up in Rochester and attended Houghton College for two years before moving on to NYU where she earned a four year degree in Business Administration in 1944. After graduation she married her husband and moved to the family farm in Centerville in 1945 and then to Perry in 1956. Elisabeth left Perry in 1993 and moved to Brooklyn Avenue in Warsaw. She worked as a Family Case Worker for the Wyoming County DSS for over twenty years before retiring in 1978. A longtime member of the LaGrange Baptist Church, she loved music so much she taught private piano lessons and enjoyed playing the organ. Many remember her from her years playing violin for the Genesee Symphony Orchestra or her participation in the Kitchen Conference, the Home Bureau, the Perry Camera and Garden Clubs, and bible study group at Valley Chapel in Warsaw. She loved her family, her music, and a good bowl of ice cream. Elisabeth was predeceased by her husband, Harmon Veazey in 1986; her daughters; Nan Millen and Christie Veazey; two brothers, Philip and Warren Anderson and a sister, Frances Churchill. Survivors include 4 sons, Dave Veazey of Corfu, Steve (Ellen) Veazey of Norway, ME, Jim (Marlene) Veazey of Oakfield and Tim (Debbie) Veazey of Geneseo; six daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Landowski of Darien, Ruthie (Bill) Kauffman of Coeur d'alene, ID, Ginger (Frank) Manfre of Atlanta, GA, Marty (Dave) Remke of Denver, CO, Joanna (John) Privitera of San Mateo, CA, and Becky (Jim) Grant of Akron; a son in-law, Ralph Millen of Warsaw; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a niece, Judy Joyce and a nephew Randy Churchill. Friends of Elisabeth may call on Friday, March 31st from 4-8pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at the LaGrange Baptist Church on Saturday, April 1st 2017 at 10am with Pastor Dan Case. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Perry. Memorial contributions are requested to the LaGrange Baptist Church or the Warsaw Public Library.
