E. Gregorina Cooper, a long-time active member of the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo and Erie County, as well as the Stebbins Chapter #503, Pike, NY Order of the Eastern Star, (Centennial Chapter of Warsaw, NY,) died on Monday, November 27th, 2017. Born in Buffalo in 1922, she spent much of her late childhood and early adult years in the Hamilton, Ontario area, working at the Otis Elevator wartime plant in Hamilton from 1941-1946. Upon her return to Buffalo, she worked in several area plants. In 1953 she married Kenneth D. Cooper, an accountant, who died in 1987. They resided in Warsaw for most of their married life.

"Greg," as she was affectionately known, served as the leader of G.S. Troop 369 in Buffalo for many years. She was probably best known, however, for her significant role in training young women in the counselor-in-training program at G.S. Camp Seven Hills over a period of 10 years. In this role, she provided a strong and lasting influence on countless young women, fostering the values of friendship, cooperation, and contribution to others as she taught them how to provide younger girls with a solid camping experience. Many of her "girls" have remained in touch with her over the years, and Greg and her husband took and active interest in their lives as they unfolded.

In addition, she trained many adult leaders as a Volunteer Trainer for the Council and was the recipient of the Thanks Badge, one of Girl Scouting's highest honors.

In her time as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she served the chapter as Matron in 1965. She was active in several other Warsaw organizations and a member of the United Church of Christ.

She and her husband later lived in Florida, where Greg worked as secretary to the Director of Nursing Services at Metropolitan General Hospital, Pinellas Park. She returned to Warsaw in 1989, following the death of her husband.

In recent years, Greg moved to Batavia, where she lived in the Msgr. Kirby Senior Living Apartments until frequent falls resulted in her move to a nursing facility. There she was known to residents and staff alike for her adventures in her motorized wheelchair. She remained alert and an avid reader until the end of her life.
