Obituary

Dorothy Marion Slocum, age 95 of West Court St., passed away Sunday, June 12th 2016 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Green Bay, WI, September 3rd, 1920, daughter of the late Leopold and Florentina Metzler Zeutzius. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, and a 1939 graduate of Warsaw High School, Dorothy earned her B.S. degree from the Wyoming County Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She worked as a registered nurse for the Wyoming County Community Hospital and the Warsaw High School from where she retired in 1985 after 17 years. Dorothy was a member of the United Church of Warsaw, the Monday Club, and the Wyoming County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Ralph. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Slocum whom she married June 15th, 1943; 2 sisters, Geraldine Mahieu and Sharleen Gardner. Survivors include a son, Richard Slocum of Warsaw; 2 daughters, Carol Smith of Perry and Joanne (David) Feeney of Spencerport, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Friends of Dorothy may call from 11am to 1pm Friday, June 17th, 2016 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home following the calling hours at 1pm, with Rev. Dr. Barbara Therese officiating. Burial will take place in the Warsaw Cemetery privately at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to the Warsaw Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 22 Warsaw, NY 14569.
