Obituary

Dorothy A. Dumbleton, age 85, of Perry Road Pavilion, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 9, 2024 after a brief stay at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility.
Dorothy was born in Batavia, April 5, 1939, a daughter of the late Milton and Ida Heywood Acker. A 1956 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School, Dorothy worked for a time at Pavilion Livestock, and as an accountant for JJ Newberry's  in Batavia and Perry.  Later at the family business, Dumbleton Used Auto Parts Inc. in Pavilion for 43 years.. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy was an avid genealogist in fact tracing her family back to the 1400's and Europe. She was a longtime member of the Pavilion United Methodist Church and very active with the Mary Jemison Chapter #1040 of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Dorothy enjoyed travel, long walks and gardening of all kinds but she will be fondly remembered as "The best chocolate chip cookie maker."
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Dumbleton whom she married on January 10th 1959, her son, David "Fudd" Dumbleton, a daughter in-law, Jeannette Dumbleton, two brothers, Delmar and Albert Acker, a sister, Ruth Ribbeck.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Shurgot, Sharon (Russell) West both of Pavilion, a son, Dennis Dumbleton of Wyoming, a sister, Mary Backus, 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews survive.
Friends of Dorothy A. Dumbleton may call on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 2 to 5 pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY 14569. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Benjamin Campbell of the First Baptist Church of Wyoming.
