Doris A. Gehman, age 82 of West Middlebury Road, passed away Saturday, November 22nd, 2014 at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Batavia, March 10th, 1932, daughter of the late Champion and Marie Cooper Rogers. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County, Doris worked as the bookkeeper at W.G. Handyside in Wyoming; owned and operated the Crossroads Café in Wyoming for a short time, and was cafeteria manager at the Wyoming School from where she retired. She was a member of the Wyoming Presbyterian Church and enjoyed travel, her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and brightening others days by visiting the nursing homes and hospitals. Doris was a member of the Wyoming Hook and Ladder Fireman's Auxiliary, a foster grandparent at the Wyoming School, and a former volunteer of the Red Cross, the Wyoming Presbyterian Church youth group, and the Wyoming County Community Hospital gift shop. She opened her home to all who needed her gaining the title of "Ma" by many. Doris is survived by 2 daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Parmerter of Gainesville and Cindy (Don) Seames of LeRoy; 2 sons, Jim Gehman of Wyoming and Kevin (Teresa) Gehman of Fallon, NV; 2 brothers, Norman (Carol) Rogers of Oakfield and James (Donna) Rogers of Avon; 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren. Friends of Doris may call from 3pm to 5pm Tuesday, November 25th at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 5pm with Pastor Jeanine Haven officiating.
