It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Bertrand, who left this world peacefully on March 31, 2025.

Born in Warsaw, NY on October 30, 1939, to Edward and Dorothy Court, Dawn was known for her kindness, generosity and devotion to family and friends. She touched the lives of everyone she met and left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Dawn was a 1957 graduate of Letchworth High School, went on to cosmetology school and became a hairdresser, owning her own salon, Bertrand's Beauty Boutique, for many years. She married the love of her life, Gus in 1958. Together they owned and worked their farm in LaGrange and enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the US and Canada until his passing in 2020.

Dawn had many talents— gardening, quilting, cooking among them and she shared that joy generously with her family and community. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She donated many hours to Wyoming County 4-H and Moose Club of Warsaw. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Pavilion.

She is survived by daughters, Janet (Karl) Lutz of Syracuse, Sylvia (Larry) Mellin of Perry and son Gustav Jr. (Christeen) of LaGrange, two sisters, Mary Ann Henderson of Lancaster, NY and Kay Allen of St. Petersburg, FL, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and countless others who loved her deeply. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers Robert and Douglas Court, sisters Sandra Van Ocker and Bonnie Pitts and granddaughter Monica Mellin.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 am at Weeks Funeral Home in Warsaw, followed by a private service for family. Burial in LaGrange Cemetery will be at a future date. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we shared and the lessons she taught us. Her spirit lives on in every warm memory, every story told, and every act of kindness passed along.
