David J. Murtha passed away December 19, 2010 at his home in Salt Lake City, UT surrounded by his family.

He was born April 6, 1938 in Pike, NY to the late Kenneth S. and Mary E. Sauer Murtha. He was a 1955 graduate of Warsaw High School. David served in the US Air Force from October 1957 to May 1962.

On June 28, 1963, David married Helen Hayes in Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Survivors include his wife Helen and his children: Marie (Wayne) Cottom, Mesa, AZ., Lynn, Salt Lake City, Melissa (Jeffery) Upland, CA. Laureen, Portland, OR and Kelli Ann (Opiew) Ablla, Salt Lake City, UT and 11 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mary (Jacob) Weber, Pavilion, NY, Margaret (Wilson) Parmerter, Gainesville, NY, Monica (late Fredd), Flagler Beach, FL, Kenneth, Warsaw, NY, Robert, Hampton, GA, Gerald (Pamela), Cambridge, OH, Madeline (late Lee) Beach, Warsaw, NY John, Warsaw, NY, Jean (Walter) Vincent, Bloomfield, NY, Daniel, Warsaw, NY, Maureen Waterrose, Delta, CO, and Kathleen, Silver Springs, NY. and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held on December 27, 2010 at the 21st N. Ward, Salt Lake City with interment at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Camp Williams, South Jordan UT with military honors. The U. S. flag was presented to his wife by his brother, Daniel. Weeks Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
