David G. Callaro, age 82, of Quakertown Rd., passed away Tuesday, January 15 ^th , 2019 at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Mt. Morris, September 23 ^rd , 1936, son of the late Samuel and Dorothy Gilbert Callaro. A lifetime resident of Western New York, Wyoming County since 1967, and 1954 graduate of Mt. Morris High School, David worked as a correction officer for 30 years in the Attica Correctional Facility where he retired in 1991. He also owned and operated Callaro Trucking and Tree Service for over 45 years. David was a member of the Wyoming County Veterans Club, The Warsaw Moose #560, former member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club in Avon, and member of Walter Klein Post #532 of the American Legion. He enjoyed deer, rabbit, and bird hunting and loved his 5 hunting dogs. David served his country honorably with the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Lee Callaro. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Stone Callaro of Warsaw; 2 sons, Donald Callaro of Silver Springs and Steven (Tina) Callaro of Pike; 2 step-sons, David O'Brien of Perry and Daniel Larson of Shawnee, KS; 2 step-daughters, Suzanne (Larry) Hastings of Sun City, AZ and Kara (Joseph) Mayeaux of Phoenix, AZ; a grand daughter, Dana Callaro of Warsaw; and several step-grandchildren. Friends of David may call from 1pm to 4pm Thursday, January 17 ^th , 2019 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service with full military honors will be held following calling at 4pm. Burial will take place privately in the Quaker Settlement Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the Wyoming County Animal Shelter at 4380 Rte. 19 Silver Springs, NY 14550 or to the Wyoming County SPCA at 808 Creek Rd. Attica, NY 14011.
