Daniel E. Haxton, age 44, of Hardy's Road, Bliss died suddenly, April 5th, 2010 at St. James Hospital in Hornell, New York. Daniel was born in Warsaw, May 31st, 1965, the son of John L. and Oleava M. Degenfelder Haxton of Bliss. Daniel was a lifetime resident of Wyoming County. For the last five years he was a construction foreman with Chamberlain Construction in Dansville. Daniel was very generous of himself and his talents, helping his family and friends without hesitation. He found enjoyment in woodworking by making clocks and dollhouses. Dan was a longtime member and very dedicated to the Sons of the American Legion chartered through the Eagle Memorial Post #1720 in Bliss. He was a former membership chair for the 7th and 8th districts of New York. Dan also belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #601 in Wellsville. He is survived by his parents, John L. and Oleava M. Haxton of Bliss; 2 sisters, Dr. Wanda (Carl Jr.) Haxton-Koch of Adamstown, MD and Sarah Drew of Bliss; a brother, Leslie (Heidi) Haxton of Ocala, FL; a maternal grandmother, Mary Degenfelder of Castile; a niece and nephew, Ashley and Steele Drew, both of Bliss. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Services will be conducted privately. Memorial contributions are requested to the family.
