Daniel H. Andrews, age 88 of Gainesville, passed away Friday, September 27th 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo after a brief illness.

Dan was born in Warsaw, May 31st 1936, to the late Howard and Lovella Dumbleton Andrews. A lifetime resident of Wyoming County and a 1954 graduate of Letchworth High School, he worked as a truck driver for BR DeWitt; Town of Gainesville; Kendall Refining Company; and Wyoming County Highway Department. After his retirement in 1998, Dan drove truck for several years for VanSlyke Dairy Farm.

Dan spent 6 years (1959 – 1965) in the Army National Guard as a Specialist Grade E5. He is also a Lifetime Member of the Gainesville Fire Department.

In retirement, Dan loved to spend time cruising around with the "love of his life", Wanda, fishing at his son Lee's pond, and being involved in family gatherings.

Dan was preceded in death by his spouse, Wanda; sisters Janice, Jean, and Doris.

Survivors include two daughters: Donna (Klaus) Doberstein of Lebanon, PA, and Judy (Doug) Galliford of East Bethany; two sons: Lee (Cindy) Andrews of Hermitage, and Jason (Tammy) Andrews of Pike; one sister: Lucille Andrews; seven grandchildren: Brian (Becca) Galliford, Mary (Steve) Skoczylas, Ryan (Rebecca) Andrews, Jordan (Danielle) Andrews, Matthew (Abbie Dixon) Andrews, Josh (Charlotte Hauslauer) Andrews, and Sarah Andrews; eight great-grandchildren: Lucy, Caroline, Conor, Eleanor, Colton, Cormac, Frances, and Eloise.

There will be no calling hours per Dan's wishes. A private graveside service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Gainesville.

The family wishes to thank the Staff and Residents at The Cloisters for the time Dan lived there enjoying the conversations and friendships.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to the Gainesville Fire Department, 2 East St., Gainesville, NY 14066.
