Clifton C. Gayhart, age 84 of Luckey Drive , Houghton and formerly Lamont Road Castile, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 29 ^th 2020, at the Houghton Nursing and Rehab facility with his beloved wife by his side. He was born in North Hornell, New York June 12 ^th 1935, the son of the late Charles O. and Beatrice Davidson Gayhart. Cliff worked for 20 years at Kelly Brother's Nursery in Dansville before becoming a greens keeper for Silver Lake Country Club from which he retired after 20 years. Cliff enjoyed automotive work (His pride and joy being his custom van) and passed his skills and love of cars down through the family. When he wasn't attending car shows, he enjoyed working on and fixing up his property. Cliff was dedicated to his beloved wife, Gladys S. Chase Gayhart who he enjoyed yard sales, flea marketing and whom he shared everything with.

Cliff was preceded in death by a son; Robert Gayhart and a sister; Delores Kinney.

Survivors include his wife Gladys M. Chase Gayhart of Houghton, 2 daughters; Joyce Gayhart of Sumter, South Carolina, Rosslyn (Dean) Austin of Campbell, NY, 3 sons; Clifton (Jane) Gayhart of Ft. Myers, FL, Winford "JR." Gayhart of Warsaw, Joseph Gayhart of Dansville, 4 brothers; Thomas (Edwina) of Wayland, Donald (Dorothy) of Hornell, Billy of Houghton, and Paul of Lima, NY. Additional survivors include numerous grand and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
