Obituary

Clayton D. "Bud" Strait of North Main Street, Warsaw, died peacefully Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility. Bud was born in Pavilion, NY, September 3rd, 1929, the son of the late Frank and Cora Calvert Strait. He was a lifetime resident of Wyoming County and served during the Korean War. He worked as a dairy farmer at various farms throughout the area. Bud enjoyed woodworking and vegetable gardening. He loved spending time with his family and dogs. He is predeceased by 2 sisters, Eleanor Bowman and Jean Long. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, JoAnne Merrill Strait, whom he married on May 1st, 1963. He is also survived by 2 daughters, Barbara (Steven) Mann of Warsaw; Heather (Michael) Smith of Wauseon, OH; a son, James (Patty) Wheeler of Waymart, PA; 5 grandchildren; J.J., Heather, and Cory Wheeler, all of Waymart, Pa; Ryan Smith of Wauseon, OH; and a beloved grand daughter Marie Mann of Warsaw as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends of Bud Strait may call on Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 North Main Street, Warsaw, where a memorial service will then be conducted at 1 p.m. by Nicole Johnson of the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the Machpelah Cemetery in LeRoy at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the patient fund of the WyCo Skilled Nursing Facility at 400 North Main Street, Warsaw, NY 14569.
