Claire Bischalaney age 88, of Park Street, Warsaw, passed away, Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on February 2, 1935 in Coudersport, PA., daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Milchuck) Deitrick.

Upon graduating from Coudersport High School, she attended and graduated from Edinboro State University, PA. with a BS degree in Art Education. She also completed post graduate work at St Bonaventure University, SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Geneseo.

Claire taught Art at all grade levels in NY State. First, teaching in Franklinville, Delevan, Machias, Portville, Mayville, Fredonia, Dalton, and Warsaw, for a total of 35 years before retiring.

She served on the Arts Council of Wyoming County Board of Directors as Liaison for the Regional Programs of Excellence Arts Pilot Program at Warsaw Central Schools. A life member of the National Education Association and New York State Teachers Association. Also a member of the Arts Council of Wyoming County, American Association University Women, Appleton Museum of Art and Historical Society in Ocala, Florida. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Warsaw, NY and St. Theresa Catholic Church in Bellview, FL.

Claire enjoyed sport; swimming, fishing, skiing, and golfing (2 holes in one). Her other interests are reading, bridge, flower arranging, photography, chess, attending concerts and plays.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jill Seitz and a brother Richard Deitrick.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim of over 60 years, also enjoyed many good times together world traveling, spending time with their family, friends and wintering in Florida. Additional survivors include a son Jay, two granddaughters, Kristen and Lydia, a great granddaughter, Charlotte, and a sister, Lorraine (Craig) Loewe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's Church in Warsaw on Thursday, November 16, at 10am with Father Patrick Melfie as Celebrant. Burial will follow privately in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, NY. Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw has arrangements.
