Chester D. (CHET) Griffen, age 88 of Highland Ave. Warsaw died suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 27th at his own home. He was born in Orangeville, May 1st 1920, the son of the late Edmund and Leona Brooks Griffen. A 1937 graduate of Warsaw High, Chet went on to drive truck for B.R. DeWitt Inc. in Pavilion from 1949 until retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Warsaw United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #549, F&AM, and Wyoming Chapter #181 R.A.M.; Chet was a longtime superintendant of Quaker Settlement Cemetery, active in the Warsaw Fire Dept. from 1944-72 when he joined the Exempt Fireman's Assoc. He is preceded in death by his loving Wife Dora Eck and a Sister; Elna Redden. Survivors include a Son; Darryl (Georgina) Griffen of Alpine, CA, a Daughter; Cheri Fisher and her significant other Paul Fisher of Perry, a Brother; Dale Griffen of Ohio, and his loving Sister; Doris Cox of Wyoming, 3 Grandchildren; Alex and Anthony Griffen of Alpine, CA and Charla Fisher, stationed in Hawaii with the United States Army; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends and family of Chet Griffen may call on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd from 4-6pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw where services will be held at 6pm following the calling with Pastor Lauren Turner of Warsaw's United Methodist Church. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Quaker Settlement Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warsaw Fire Dept. or to the United Methodist Church, in Chet's name.
