Obituary

Carolyn F. Lamitina, age 75, of Murphy Road Gainesville, died peacefully, Friday, August 15th 2008 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. She was born in Olean, NY December 14th 1932, the daughter of the late Carl and Justina (Shoff) Appleby. Carolyn was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School and went on to nursing school in Warsaw. She graduated from the program in 1952 and worked for Wyoming County Hospital for over thirty years. After retiring she went back to school and became a Certified Diabetes Educator. Carolyn was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in East Arcade where she enjoyed playing the organ. She also played at St. Peter and Paul's and Assumption Church in Portageville. Carolyn enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing bingo. She even found time to volunteer at the Arcade and Attica Railroad. She was a good natured and fun loving woman who enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, Angelo James Jr. in 1977 and a sister; Shirley McClure.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years; Angelo J. Lamitina whom she married on November 8th 1952, 3 sons; Gary V. (Vicki) Lamitina of Gainesville, Richard A. Lamitina of Gainesville, and Peter D. (Jane) Lamitina of Silver Springs, 2 brothers; Jerry (Caroline) Appleby of Warsaw, John (Sharon) Appleby of Henrietta, a granddaughter; Amy S. Browne, 2 grandsons; Taylor Lamitina, Travis Haddon and a great granddaughter Sierra Anne Browne.
Friends of Carolyn Lamitina may call at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw on Wednesday August 20th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A vigil service will be conducted by Deacon John Kelly of St. Michael's Church at 7pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 21st at 11am at St. Michael's Church in Warsaw with Father Lawrence Damian as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
