Calvin E. Canfield, age 73, recently of Lackawanna, formerly Warsaw and Buffalo, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 23, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of Buffalo. Cal was born in Elma, December 3, 1952 a son of the late Ernest and Florence Neenan Canfield. Upon graduating from Iroquois High in 1970, Cal went on to serve Honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam as a Radio Operator and Repairman both stateside and in Germany from 1972-1975. He continued to use his knowledge and his love of radios as he earned his Ham radio operator's license. Cal also served his community for many years as a member of the Elma Fire Department. Cal worked as a property manager at the Peace Bridge Apartments for many years before moving out to Warsaw to enjoy retirement.

Cal was a devoted and loving father to his daughters Meghan, Sarah, and Rebecca, who miss him dearly and the life lessons he imparted on them. Among them was ensuring they understood how to care for a car, and his love was unconditional. He took great pride in being a parent, and being there for his children in all ways. Cal will always be remembered by his daughters for a multitude of things, including chaperoning school trips, camping, and trips to the Toronto Zoo. Cal is also survived by his brother, John (Sue) Owens, his nephew, Michael (Heather) Owens and their children, and his niece Stefanie (Jay) Owen and their children. His family and friends that he enjoyed through the Wyoming County Vet's Services will miss him.

Cal will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity for others, especially for those he loved. Cal would be there for you anytime you called (once he finally found his phone). He was always known to respond "food" when you asked him what he wanted to eat. We'll always imagine hearing him say "Suck it up Buttercup" one more time. Call loved the outdoors and all animals (but especially dogs). We couldn't have asked for a better parent, brother, uncle, and friend, and will miss Cal every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

A private Veteran's service and burial will be conducted at the Western New York National Cemetery, followed by full honors. With a celebration of life to be held later in May.
