Baker, Calvin L.

Calvin L. Baker, age 92, of East Main Rd. passed away Tuesday, April 10 th , 2018 at Premier Genesee in Batavia. He was born in Perry, July 4 th , 1925, son of the late Lewis T. and Marvel L. Shute Baker. A lifetime resident of LeRoy, Calvin worked as a fireman and an instrumentation supervisor for Lapp Insulator for 38 years from 1952 til his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Oatka Rod and Gun Club and Northwoods. Calvin enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcycle riding, was an amateur photobug, and an amateur KD2Y HAM radio operator. He served his country honorably with the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946 off the west coast and with the invasion fleet of Okinawa. Calvin was then drafted into the United States Army in 1946 with whom he served for an additional 2 years. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sharman of Perry. Survivors include his beloved wife; Amelia Perry Baker of LeRoy, a son, Robert (Jolene) Baker of LeRoy; 2 grandchildren, Carol Lee (Steve) Baker-Scharlau of Newfane, NY and Robert L. (Brandy) Baker of LeRoy; 3 great grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, and Zachary Baker; and several nieces and nephews. Friends of Calvin may call Tuesday, April 17 th , 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home, 10am Wednesday, April 18 th , 2018 with Pastor Jack Hempfling of the Living Waters Church where full military honors will be rendered. Burial will follow in the Warsaw Cemetery.
