Betty M. Shepard, age 85, of East Koy Rd., Portageville, passed away Thursday, October 25th, 2012 at the Woming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. She was born in Rochester, June 1st, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Thelma Thorton Hass. A lifetime resident of western New York, Betty dedicated her time as devoted homemaker. She was known as a terrific cook and baker, especially for her roast beef. She enjoyed canning, flower gardening, needlepoint, and refinishing furniture. Betty was also a member of Portageville Baptist Church. She is predeceased by 2 husbands, William D. O'Hearn and William G. Shepard; a daughter, Jenny McCall; and a granddaughter, Crystal O'Hearn. Survivors include 2 daughters, Claudia (Donald) Rossborough of Mt. Morris and Terri Foges of Portageville; 2 sons, David (Maria) O'Hearn of Dalton and Kurt (Connie) O'Hearn of Moravia, NY; a brother, Richard Hass of Hemlock; a sister, June Schuster of both Dansville and Tampa, FL.; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2pm, Saturday, November 3rd, 2012, at the Springway Baptist Church in Wayland with her brother, Rev. Richard Hass as officiant. Burial will take place at a later date in the Quaker Settlement Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Wyoming County S.P.C.A at 808 Creek Rd. Attica, NY 14011
