Betty A. (Miller) Godat, age 80 of South Main Street Warsaw, died Saturday, December 2nd 2017 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital. Betty was born in Warsaw, July 10th 1937 the daughter of the late Henry J. and Doris M. Brotherton Miller. A lifetime resident and local legend in Warsaw, Betty graduated from Warsaw Central School in 1956. After working for over 30 years in the housekeeping department at East Side Nursing Home, Betty retired in 2003. She was a member of the Rock Glen Baptist Church, the Perry Newcomers, Wethersfield and the Wyoming County Home Bureau where she was the former County Chairwoman. She enjoyed crafting, sewing painting, crocheting, and ceramics. Betty was a truly fun lady to be around always making people laugh. She taught her family what was most important in life, loving and giving. Betty was a giving soul with a tremendous heart and she loved everyone. If you had the time, she would enjoy sharing stories and local history as well as being a good listener to your stories and troubles. Betty had a way of making you feel better and always offered words of encouragement.
She was predeceased by her husband; James Godat, a daughter; Barbara Pippen, 4 sisters; Doris Green, Sylvia Maguire, Peggy Hall, and Maryellen Parsons, 2 brothers; Henry and John Miller, and a great granddaughter; Topanga Rutherford, and a future daughter in-law Cheryl Billings.
Survivors include her 2 sons; Benjamin Godat of Warsaw, Lonnie (Jamie) Godat of Bergen, a daughter; Sherri Godat of Bliss, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends of Betty may call on Wednesday, December 6th from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw where funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 10am with Pastor Daryn Duff of the Rock Glen Baptist Church as officiant. Burial will follow in the Warsaw Cemetery.
