Bernard "Barny" Meidenbauer, age 86, of Old State Route 39 Bliss, passed away, peacefully, Sunday, October, 31 ^st at Suzanne's Comfort Home in Perry, NY. Barny joined his son, son in law, and stepson at the pearly gates and they all went to the Bills game together on Sunday. He was born in Buffalo, June, 1 ^st 1935 a son of the late Lester F. and Eleanor W. Schlau Meidenbauer. Barny was a 1953 graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo. He then went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from Erie Technical School. He joined the United States Army in 1957, serving as a civil engineer, earning the rank of SPC-4 before being honorably discharged in 1963 from the Army Reserves. Barny worked for the New York State Department of Transportation in Rochester, as a civil engineer, for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He started working on cars out of his own garage at an early age, in fact making it a second career. He had his own garage on Genesee Street in Warsaw before moving the business to the top of the East Hill in 1985. Barny was known for his great sense of humor and for being a prankster. He loved his old cars (especially Studebakers), was a die hard model railroader and an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Barny attended the First Baptist Church of Hume.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Leeann Meidenbauer, a stepson James Largey, a son in law Robert Schell Jr., a son Warren Meidenbauer, and a brother Lester Meidenbauer.

Barny is survived by his loving companion of twenty one years, Cindy Largey of Bliss, his former wife and mother of his children; Joan Burton of Warsaw, two daughters; Patti (Joe) McIlroy of Piffard, NY, Sue Schell of Warsaw, NY, a son; Russ (Dorothy) Meidenbauer of Wyoming, two sisters; Myrtle Cussen and Mary (Mike) Denne both of Buffalo, six grandchildren Andy (Michele) McIlroy of Pavilion, Kelly (Ryan) Kling of Wyoming, Tori (Tom) Avery of Pavilion, Molly (Zach) Walters of California, Michael Robinson III of Leroy, David Meidenbauer of Warsaw, five great grandchildren Reed McIlroy, Addy and Emmy Avery, Caden Kling, Evellyn Walters and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Friends of Bernard R. Meidenbauer may call on Thursday, November 4 ^th from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY 14569. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 5 ^th at the First Baptist Church in Hume, NY, with Pastor Joel Stroud as officiant.
