Barbara J. Ellis, age 81, of Port Orange, Florida passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband of 63 years, Russell, by her side, June 13, 2025. Barb was born in Buffalo, December 29, 1943 the daughter of the late Kurt and Sarah Vanderbrooke Schutt.

Barb graduated from Wyoming Central School and went on to attend both Genesee Community College and Geneseo State earning her LPN. She worked for a time at various New York State group homes in the region before becoming the secretary to the Wyoming County Veteran's Service Officer. Barb found joy in helping others, spending time with and meeting new friends. She loved walking daily with her beloved dogs, Oreo and the late Kelly, as they always seemed to break the ice with strangers and therefore led to new friendships. She was a longtime member of the Warsaw Red Hats and enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques as well as rehabilitating homes. She was fortunate enough to have traveled the world with her husband, to include Cuba, Canada, Alaska, and the lower 48 states.

Barb was preceded in death by her son, Steven Ellis in 2019 and a granddaughter, Chrissy Ellis.

Survivors include her husband, Russell F. Ellis whom she married on November 18, 1962 at which point she started their wonderful journey of 63 years together. Additional survivors include a son Mark Ellis of California, a daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Yianopolos of Elmira and a grandson, Adam Ellis of Horse Heads.

A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Benjamin Campbell of The First Baptist Church of Wyoming at 12pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main Street Warsaw, NY 14569.
