Obituary

Austen Bailey, age 78, of Cook Rd., passed away Monday, April 11th, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Batavia, May 23rd, 1937, son of the late George W. and Martha Austin Bailey. A lifetime resident of Genesee County, and 1955 graduate of Pavilion Central School, Austen worked as a self employed dairy farmer as well as for Comstock/Seneca Foods in LeRoy for 20 years until its closing in 2000. He then carried on working part time at Darien Lake while maintaining his farm. Austen was a hardworking man who loved everything about farming and his farm as well as hunting. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Bailey. Survivors include 2 sons, Tim (Liz) Andrews of Eagle, CO and George (Tara) Bailey of Pavilion; 4 daughters, Tammy Gray of Mt. Morris, Cheryl (Salvatore) Nicastro of Pavilion, Melody Brenkus of Lancaster and Julie Bailey of Batavia; a sister, Linda Keating of Attica; 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and a nephew. Friends of Austen may call from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Wednesday, April 13th, 2016 at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw. A funeral service will be held 10am Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Todd Daningburg of The Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Pavilion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Austen's name to Hospice at http://www.hospicenet.org/.
