Arthur J. Shearing, age 86, of Dolph Road, Gainesville, passed away Wednesday, October 21 st 2020 at St. Joseph's Home in Orchard Park. Arthur was born in Gainesville, January 3 rd 1934, a son of the late Arthur N. (Lorraine) Wallace Shearing. A 1952 graduate of Letchworth Central School, Art operated his own dairy farm in Hermitage before going on to learn the trade of artificial insemination. He worked for Curtis and ABS before starting his own business at which he tirelessly worked. Art enjoyed coon and deer hunting. He enjoyed spending time camping with his family and especially his beloved wife. Art served with the Gainesville Fire Department for over twenty years. Art
was a hard worker who also enjoyed cutting wood, snowmobiling, bowling and playing baseball. He continued to play in a local softball league until he was 65.
Art is preceded in death by his brother; William Shearing, a sister in-law; Adria Shearing and a brother in-law P. Michael Moulton.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years; Charlene A. Henry Shearing of Gainesville, four sons; Arthur (Karen) Shearing Jr. of Wethersfield, Ken (Ann) Shearing of Gainesville, Walt (Jayne) Shearing of Castile, Mark (Karen) Shearing of Gainesville, three daughters; Darlene F. Wright of Mt. Morris, Pam (Steve) Vickers of Warsaw, Cindy (Bob) Beardsley of Portageville, a sister; Mildred Moulton of Ossian, 23 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Art's life will be held at a later date and burial will take place privately in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Gainesville with Pastor and cousin John Shearing of Letchworth New Life Fellowship Church in Silver Springs as officiant.
