Albin J. Hajduk, age 91, formerly of Silver Springs, New York, died Thursday, August 06, 2009 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.
He was born in Depew, New York, February 10th 1918, the son of the late John Hajduk and Valerie Slomski. He worked for the Lancaster School District as head custodian. He moved to Wyoming County in 1984 and resided in Silver Springs until entering the New York State Veterans Home in 2004.
He was a member of St. Michael's Church. He belonged to Walter Klein Legion, The Vets Club Warsaw, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Batavia. He belonged to the Army Air Corps where he supervised the work of twenty-five men during World War II. He fought in Africa and in the Italy campaign. He was preceded in death by his wife Regina T. (Galas) Hajduk and two brothers John and Edmund Hajduk.
He is survived by his son David Hajduk, step-son Kirkland (Ruby) Beck, 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Friends of Albin Hajduk may call 2-5 on Saturday, August 8th at the Weeks Funeral Home, 123 N. Main Warsaw. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday the 10th at 11:00am with Deacon John Kelly of St. Michael's Church Celebrating.
Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery after his service.
