Dr. Albert D. King, age 68, died Wednesday, July 30th 2008 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born in Fillmore, NY August 14th 1939, the son of the late Charles A. and Doris A. (Dunning) King. Albert was a 1957 graduate of Letchworth Central School where he was the first recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award. He earned a BA in music from Houghton College and went on to the University of Illinois to earn his Masters in Child Development. He taught for two years at Oregon State and later taught at Iowa State University where he received his PHD in Statistics and Research Methodology. He then retired in 1997 after 23 years of teaching there. He spent the last 11 years in Pike and previously lived in Ames, Iowa. Albert was an accomplished composer and vocalist who was a positive driving force that touched many lives. Due to his charismatic personality, people bonded with him immediately. Albert was a fun loving guy and the life of any party. He dedicated his time and resources to two people in particular; Omer Balla and Christian Kemmerer both were treated as sons. He is preceded in death by his Brothers Edmund King in 2008 and Charles King in 1991. Survivors include 4 Sisters; Jennie Allbright of Pike, Mary Adamowich of Plainville, CT, Juliann King of Manaus, Brazil, and Carol King of Pike, 2 Step-Brothers; George (Caroline) Newcomb of Michigan, Ward (Hazel) Newcomb of North Carolina, 1 Step-Sister; Arlene Nunnaly of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends of Dr. Albert D. King, may call at the Weeks Funeral Home 123 N. Main St. Warsaw on Tuesday, August 5th from 6-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 6th at 10am with Dr. Gary Jones, Pastor of the Farmington Ave. Baptist Church in West Hartford, CT. Burial will follow the service in the Elmwood Cemetery in Pike. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pike Rescue Squad or Pike Library.
